Job Description

The Corporation of the City of Thunder Bay is seeking a skilled Personal Support Worker to join our team at Pioneer Ridge.

About the Opportunity

As a Personal Support Worker, you will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary care team, providing high-quality care to our residents. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Providing basic nursing care based on each resident's developed care plan and within the framework of an established nursing program.
  • Encouraging and supporting resident participation in activities of daily living.
  • Providing input into the development and maintenance of resident care plans and participating in resident care conferences.
  • Reporting changes in residents' physical and mental condition to the Registered Nurse and documenting as per policy.
  • Participating in maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff, demonstrating an appropriate response to emergencies and safety procedures.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Successful completion of a recognized personal support worker or developmental services worker program; or
  • Enrolled at a college or university in the registered practical nursing or registered nursing program.
  • A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly is necessary.
  • Certification in CPR
  • Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
What We Offer

The City of Thunder Bay offers a competitive compensation package, including:

  • A $10,000 incentive in return for a twelve-month commitment to work in a long-term home or for a home and community care employer in Ontario.
  • An additional $3.00 hourly as legislated through the Personal Support Workers Permanent Compensation Enhancement Program by the Provincial Government.
