Caretaker - Cleaning Services Specialist

About the Role:

The University of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Facilities team as a Caretaker. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing proactive cleaning services to our campus community, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform cleaning tasks as assigned, including cleaning washrooms, common areas, and floors using various equipment and cleaning agents.
  • Provide cleaning services in other areas as required to cover absences of other caretaking staff.
  • Report building deficiencies and ensure the building is secure after hours.
  • Provide efficient and courteous customer service to the university community and visiting public.

Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 10 (Grade 12 may be considered an asset).
  • A current acceptable criminal record check is required.
  • Minimum one (1) year of caretaking and/or cleaning experience in an institutional/hospitality setting.
  • Experience working safely with chemicals and power cleaning equipment is considered an asset.
  • Customer and teamwork experience are essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic English reading, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Customer-oriented and able to work well independently and with others as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing tasks and work environments.
  • Physical requirements include being able to lift and move 25 lbs, and standing, walking, bending, and moving for extended periods of time.
