About the Role

We're seeking a seasoned professional to join our Property Large Loss team as a Field Adjuster. In this role, you will handle large and complex commercial property claims, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve claims efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and investigate large and complex commercial property claims, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
  • Engage with internal and external counsel, consultants, adjusters, accountants, appraisers, and engineers to confirm coverage, determine liability, and assess damages.
  • Mentor and guide regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims handling and support long-term succession planning.
  • Train colleagues on complex claims handling and provide technical advice to ensure best practices.
  • Work with Underwriting, Loss Prevention, and other stakeholders to identify potential risks, hazards, and trends, sharing feedback and lessons learned.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to brokers, customers, and colleagues, delivering key performance indicators related to loss development and loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control, and expense management.
  • Leverage expertise in a creative, continuous improvement environment to support best practice operations and effectively negotiate claims when necessary.
  • Attend settlement conferences and trials as required.
Requirements
  • A critical thinker with intellectual curiosity and the ability to approach complex problems in time-sensitive situations.

  • A problem-solver with the ability to gather information, evaluate situations, and negotiate the next steps toward a solution.

  • A planner with the ability to effectively organize and establish an effective strategy.
  • A strong collaborator with a passion for mentoring and coaching others.
  • 10+ years of experience with direct handling of large and complex commercial property claims.
  • Appropriate knowledge of all relevant regulatory and legal requirements applicable to the position.
  • Undergraduate degree or CIP designation (asset).
  • Travel required.
  • Valid driver's license.
