Job Title: Data Governance Specialist

HarperCollins Publishers is seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Specialist to support the implementation and maintenance of our organization's data governance framework.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with data owners and custodians to develop and implement data governance processes, standards, and procedures.
  • Perform analysis to gain subject matter expertise for various data domains, documenting current data flows, identifying data silos, data duplications, and inconsistencies, and recommending solutions for resolution.
  • Lead the data governance committee(s) of various domains to align data definitions and maintain common schemas.
  • Work with data owners and other cross-functional teams to document data inventory, definitions, and data mappings for integrations and data quality rules.
  • Implement governance solutions and standards, controls, and validations in various source applications.
  • Develop and maintain data quality standards and metrics.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with data governance policies and procedures.
  • Provide training and support to stakeholders on data governance policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in data governance, business analysis, or a related data field.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and database design with the ability to write and run complex SQL queries.
  • Knowledge of metadata management tools and data catalogs for implementing governance policies and tracking data lineage, data ownership, and documenting glossary and definitions.
  • Understanding data integration and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools for ensuring data consistency and integrity across different systems and applications.
  • Familiarity with relevant technologies such as SQL Server, Big Query, Azure Synapse, Power BI among others.
  • Experience in project management, business analysis, or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
