Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and enhance current and next-generation residential and commercial hydronic heating products.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce material costs, improve manufacturing efficiency, and eliminate waste, contributing to cost-saving initiatives.
  • Model and analyze products or components using computer-based analysis tools.
  • Verify designs through the implementation of prototypes, instrumentation, and testing.
  • Design, develop, and improve product-specific manufacturing facilities, including assembly systems, automated processes, gauges, and test fixtures.
  • Collaborate with the Manufacturing Engineer on resolving manufacturability issues of new products pre-production.
  • Collaborate with the Test Technician on product standards testing and submission to accredited labs for product listing and authorization to apply certification marks.
  • Collaborate with the Test Technician to develop and maintain a thorough understanding of all applicable product safety and efficiency standards.
  • Achieve and maintain accreditation to independently conduct tests and complete reports.
  • Manage project timelines, schedules, and budgets to complete critical tasks for new product launches.
  • Ensure alignment with strategic goals, adapt to evolving market conditions, and support continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • P.Eng.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in designing and developing new products and related project management.
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience guiding product manufacturability.
  • Previous experience guiding and improving manufacturing and quality assurance processes.
  • Previous experience taking mechanical component designs through machined prototypes to full production parts.
  • Previous experience in the HVAC/Hydronics industry is an asset.
  • Previous experience in gas fitting, gas combustion technologies, and heating appliances would be an asset.

Desirable Skills

  • Significant working knowledge of SOLIDWORKS or other 3D CAD design environments.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of materials science, corrosion, and thermal performance.
  • Working knowledge of industry standards organizations & certification processes: CSA, ANSI, UL, ASHRAE, AHRI.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic control theory would be an asset.
  • Ability to justify design decisions with calculations, analysis, and written documentation.
  • Ability to systematically work through a problem and find creative solutions to issues.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Able to work effectively alone and in a team environment given project time restraints.
