Compensation: Starting at $47,750, commensurate with experience and/or completion of in-house training.

Role Overview:

The Assistant Manager collaborates closely with the Manager to supervise the daily operations and overall shift management of the restaurant. This role is essential in ensuring that the restaurant adheres to A&W Standards, Provincial WCB, and Employment and Health regulations consistently. The Assistant Manager will actively engage with team members, working alongside them to maintain operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management:

Achieve key objectives – maintaining high quality, efficient service, and cost control through effective management of operational systems. Ensure compliance with Provincial WCB and A&W standards, identifying and addressing areas for improvement. Develop staff schedules, including personal shifts, and assign roles and responsibilities accordingly. Foster a positive workplace climate and ensure adherence to daily operational goals.

Human Resources:

Train and develop staff, addressing performance issues as necessary. Promote a safe and motivating work environment by applying daily workplace climate objectives. Maintain compliance with Employment regulations on a daily basis. Document and report critical incidents to relevant parties.

Financial Management:

Conduct daily, weekly, and periodic accounting tasks as directed by the manager. Oversee inventory management, ordering, cost control, and weekly inventory counts as instructed by the manager. Implement cash handling policies and food cost management strategies.

Customer Service:

Ensure cleanliness standards and safe food handling practices are consistently met. Deliver exceptional service to guests through efficient preparation, stocking, and staff positioning. Assist the Manager with local marketing initiatives. Address customer complaints and manage service recovery effectively. Ensure team appearance meets company standards.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role within the restaurant industry. Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership abilities. Comprehensive knowledge of all restaurant positions. Thorough understanding of restaurant Operating Systems and Standards. Genuine interest in staff development. Ability to manage accounting and administrative functions of the operation.

Preferred Skills:

Proficient oral and written communication skills in English. Solid mathematical skills. Capability to train and mentor others through a hands-on approach. Competent in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Aptitude for leading meetings effectively.

Physical Demands:

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Capacity to perform some heavy lifting.
