Director of Engineering and Technology

The Director of Engineering and Technology is a critical role at Picture Shop, responsible for overseeing the technical infrastructure and engineering processes of our Vancouver location. This position leads a local team of Engineers, ensuring top-tier support for artists and system configuration, support, maintenance, and deployment for our Dailies, Editorial, and Color/Finishing infrastructure and workflows.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement technical strategies to align with business objectives.
  • Relationship Building: Foster strong relationships with internal stakeholders, including Production and Operations teams.
  • Project Management: Manage projects from conception to delivery, ensuring timely and budget-friendly execution.
  • Resource and Performance Management: Oversee the Technology Services team, including recruitment, performance, training, and appraisals.
  • Studio Management: Manage all aspects of Technology Services, including infrastructure, working practices, regulations, and client requirements.

Requirements:

  • Deep knowledge of technology and data workflow in a large, high-end postproduction facility.
  • Demonstrable experience in creating efficiencies within digital pipelines, leading to increased quality of output and reductions in operational costs.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders.
