Position Overview
We are seeking full-time Practical Nursing Specialists to become integral members of our Hospice Nursing Care team. In this role, you will be tasked with developing and implementing effective care strategies for our residents, ensuring that the highest standards of care are consistently maintained.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and regularly update comprehensive care plans tailored to meet the individual needs of residents.
- Create a nurturing and supportive atmosphere for both residents and colleagues.
- Engage in collaborative decision-making regarding health and safety, resident care, and staffing matters.
- Monitor and assess changes in resident care requirements, adjusting routines accordingly.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to team members involved in resident care, promoting innovative practices.
- Deliver direct nursing services, including medication administration and medical procedures, in accordance with provincial regulations.
- Work in conjunction with Registered Nurses as necessary.
- Participate in ongoing professional development through workshops and training sessions.
- Review and implement care-related policies, seeking guidance from RN colleagues when needed.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing Program with current certification in British Columbia.
- Possession of a Level 1 OFA First Aid Certificate.
- Experience with social care models is highly regarded.
- Familiarity with quality improvement processes, emergency protocols, and WHMIS.
- Physical capability to perform lifting, carrying, bending, and reaching tasks using appropriate techniques.
- Proof of full and current COVID-19 vaccinations is required.
