Position Overview: The District is committed to enhancing the quality of life for its residents, focusing on mobility and transportation as a key area of development aligned with our Official Community Plan.


We are seeking a proactive and skilled leader for the role of Section Manager, Transportation.

In this position, you will report to the Manager of Engineering Services and will be responsible for overseeing and executing transportation initiatives within the District. You will lead a team of professionals in the planning, development, design, and implementation of transportation strategies and policies that support our capital and asset management goals.

Your expertise will guide the planning, feasibility studies, public engagement, policy formulation, and design development of transportation projects that have local, neighborhood, and regional significance. This includes expanding active transportation networks, enhancing transit services, and implementing traffic safety measures that align with the District's transportation vision.


As a leader, you will excel in communication and collaboration with various stakeholders.

Your background in transportation engineering and planning, along with your knowledge of traffic operations, road safety, and street design, will be essential. You should also possess planning skills related to pedestrian and bicycle facilities, on-street transit infrastructure, and emergency response routes.

Additionally, you will need to balance localized interests with broader regional initiatives.


Your negotiation skills will be crucial, as you will navigate the complexities of public and private interests.

With a strong understanding of the interplay between transportation and land use, you will contribute to community well-being, livability, economic vitality, environmental sustainability, and resilience.

You will be expected to conduct thorough technical analyses, interpret engineering plans, and produce clear and comprehensive reports on transportation challenges. Your role may also involve acting as the engineer-of-record or project sponsor to ensure successful project outcomes.

Effective time management and communication skills are vital, as you will be tasked with finding practical solutions to intricate problems.


Qualifications

A degree in Civil Engineering is required, along with a minimum of seven years of progressive experience in transportation and mobility planning and design, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with municipal, transportation agencies, highway agencies, or major transit project delivery is advantageous. A valid Driver's Licence is also necessary.


Details Hours of Work: 35-hour work week (Compressed work schedule available)
