Licensed Ground Support Equipment Technician

The Licensed Ground Support Equipment Technician plays a crucial role in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventive measures for all ground support equipment within the Canadian North fleet.
This is a temporary role.
Reporting to: Manager, GSE.
Level: As per the GAFE Collective Agreement.
Key Responsibilities:
Qualified candidates should be prepared to undertake the following responsibilities:
- Conduct servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on ground support machinery;
- Ensure meticulous documentation of all performed tasks;
- Safeguard company manuals, tools, and equipment;
- Operate workshop machinery in compliance with safety regulations;
- Maintain a tidy and organized workspace;
- Willingness to travel as required;
- Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
Applicants should possess, at a minimum, the following qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent relevant experience;
- A minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience;
- Proficient in automotive and heavy machinery repair, with a solid understanding of gasoline, diesel, and propane engines/systems;
- Possession of an Automotive Technician license or a Heavy Equipment license;
- Inter-provincial certification is a plus;
- Experience in minor welding and fabrication is advantageous;
- Basic knowledge of electronics, fuel injection, and hydraulic systems is beneficial;
- A valid driver's license is required;
- Ownership of basic hand tools is necessary;
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
- Capability to perform physically demanding tasks;
- Willingness to travel to remote locations;
- Proficiency in Inuktut is considered an asset;
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Pass as per Transport Canada regulations.
Note: This position does not offer relocation assistance.
