Job Summary:
This role is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of process improvements and automation solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity in the manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement automated material handling systems, gauges, and processes to improve manufacturing efficiency.
- Troubleshoot, repair, modify, and improve existing automated systems and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with the Automation Engineering Specialist to successfully launch vendor-sourced automated systems and machinery.
- Formulate and implement improvement plans, organize project staff, and manage all phases of a continuous improvement project.
- Prepare interim and completion reports to document progress and achievement.
- Apply lean principles and techniques to coordinate and support continuous improvement activities at the plant level and work with other Stackpole plants as necessary.
- Coordinate training and promote understanding of lean principles and techniques to all employees.
- Exercise functional authority for reducing waste and variation in identified key business processes.
- Accountable for producing measurable improvement results on projects.
- Coordinate activities to promote a general continuous improvement culture.
- Work in compliance with Johnson Electric's Quality and EHS Policies and Procedures, including IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in Industrial Engineering, mechanical, electrical, or automation technology, or Ontario industrial trade (Electrical Control (Machine) Builder, or preferred).
- 3 to 5 years of experience in an industrial environment or a 3rd year apprentice or higher.
- Good organizational skills, self-starter, able to work both independently and on a team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Competent in the use of basic hand and power tools.
- Competent in AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint software. Ability to use AB RSLogix and FactoryTalk, Solidworks, and Microsoft Project is an asset.
- Able to fabricate and assemble mechanical devices, machine, weld, paint, and build or repair pneumatic control systems.
- Control wiring, PLC programming, panel building, plumbing, and Fanuc robot programming are a definite asset.
- Able to read manufacturing, assembly, and pneumatic drawings. Ability to read electrical and hydraulic drawings is an asset.
