Registered Practical Nurse

At Simcoe County, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse to join our team in our long term care facility. As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality nursing care to our residents, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide personal nursing care to residents in accordance with administrative policies, physician's orders, and established standards.
- Assess resident's condition, recognize and interpret symptoms and signs, and implement appropriate interventions.
- Develop and maintain care plans in conjunction with the nursing team.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Ensure safekeeping of drugs and proper care of equipment.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with residents, families, visitors, and other departments.
- Ensure all documentation, including resident charts and incident/accident reports, are completed as required.
- Organize and delegate duties to PSW/HCA's on Unit.
- Attend in-service education sessions, staff meetings, committee meetings, and workshops as directed.
- Current unrestricted registration as an RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Strong knowledge of health care practices and procedures obtained through a Registered Practical Nurse Diploma.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening that is less than six (6) months old at time of hire.
- As a condition of employment, candidates are required to submit documented results of TB testing, as per Public Health requirements.
- Proof of annual CPR recertification.
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
- A minimum of two (2) years' experience as a Registered Practical Nurse.
- Previous experience in geriatrics or a long term care nursing facility, or completion of a course in gerontology is preferred.
This position is located in a long term care facility, exposure to illnesses and germs are possible on a daily basis. Work schedule to be determined; shifts may include days, evenings, nights and weekends.
