Job Title: Experienced Casualty Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Casualty Specialist to join our team at Aviva. As a key member of our Protect Claims department, you will be responsible for handling Bodily Injury claims, including those in litigation, and providing exceptional service to our customers.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in claims handling, with a focus on Bodily Injury claims. They will be able to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A strong analytical and problem-solving ability, combined with negotiation skills, will be essential in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Investigate and evaluate Bodily Injury claims, including those in litigation.
  2. Negotiate and settle claims in accordance with Aviva's procedures and philosophy.
  3. Develop and implement strategies to direct handle files to conclusion.
  4. Ensure file reserves are set on a timely and accurate basis.
  5. Maintain control over expenses through proactive handling techniques.
  6. Work in partnership with defence counsel to develop and implement strategies for bringing files to a timely and cost-effective resolution.
  7. Provide excellent customer and partner communication on claim matters.
  8. Clearly document and summarize file activity.

What You'll Bring:

  1. 3-10 years' experience handling Bodily Injury claims, including both general liability/premises operations claims and auto tort liability.
  2. Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  3. Strong working knowledge of third-party liability claims (Bodily Injury, Property, and Auto Physical Damage litigation).
  4. Mediation, Pre-Trial, and Trial experience.
  5. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  6. Superior organizational skills.
  7. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  8. Adaptability, flexibility, willingness to learn, and integrity.
  9. Committed team player with a positive outlook.
  10. Post-Secondary education in a related field.
  11. CIP designation would be an asset.
