**Job Summary**

The Water Truck Operator is a key member of our team at Volker Stevin Contracting, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a water truck. This role is crucial in maintaining gravel and clay road surfaces at optimal moisture content.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Operate a Water Truck and other equipment in a safe and appropriate manner, adhering to company policies and industry standards.
  • Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of water truck operations, including proper start-up, operation, and shutdown procedures.
  • Collaborate with supervisors to determine work areas and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
  • Fulfill the truck tank with water and spray water in designated areas, ensuring accurate application and minimizing waste.
  • Monitor vehicle performance, fluid levels, and mechanical fitness to prevent equipment failure and ensure safe operation.
  • Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of a water truck, promoting a culture of safety and excellence.
  • Operate other heavy equipment and perform construction-related duties as required, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn.

**Requirements**

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with experience in related construction activities.
  • Class 5 license with a clean abstract, demonstrating a commitment to safe driving practices.
  • 2-3 years of experience as a mainline excavator operator, with a proven track record of safety and efficiency.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and precipitation.
