About the Role

IMAX is seeking a Senior Manager to lead its Corporate Tax team. Reporting to the SVP, Tax & Treasury, you will be responsible for managing U.S. and international tax compliance, assessing Canadian income tax consequences, and identifying global tax planning strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review corporate income tax and indirect tax returns for U.S. and foreign subsidiaries, ensuring statutory reporting requirements are met.
  • Prepare and review legal entity tax provisions in accordance with U.S. GAAP, and assist with quarterly review and year-end audit requirements.
  • Monitor and manage intercompany balances to mitigate issues related to outstanding balances.
  • Rationalize international corporate org structure to reduce redundant entities.
  • Assess permanent establishment issues as IMAX grows its footprint in foreign jurisdictions.
  • Identify and manage withholding tax issues related to agreements, and consider optimization of foreign taxes paid.
  • Manage international tax audits and work with the Corporate tax team to respond to CRA international tax audit queries.
  • Assist with global M&A and post-acquisition integration activities, including tax due diligence, structuring, and review of agreements.

    Requirements:

    • 8+ years of combined corporate tax experience in industry and public accounting, with a proven track record managing U.S. and international tax issues and compliance.
    • Chartered Professional Accountant with completion of the CPA In-depth Tax Course (or equivalent).
    • Solid experience working in a multinational environment.
    • Excellent Excel/spreadsheet skills.

      Nice to Have:

      • Experience with SAP and reporting tools an asset.
      • Detail-oriented with the ability to clearly document analysis and conclusions.
      • Curiosity and interest in the business to proactively identify tax planning opportunities and improvements in the tax function.
      • Takes ownership for the external reporting process, developing and managing the process.
      • Good verbal and written communication skills to distill complex tax concepts for non-tax business partners.
