Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional support in the Dynacare Impact Genetics Laboratory, ensuring seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Unpack and sort incoming samples with precision and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with clients to ensure all materials are received and accurate for testing requested.
  • Support client requests for information and resolve any issues promptly.
  • Verify the accuracy of patient information on requisitions and specimen samples, resolving any problems or inaccuracies prior to testing and performing required data entry.
  • Extract DNA or RNA from human blood and tissue samples using universal precautions and established methods.
  • Prepare and sort specimens for technical analysis.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Operate robotic assay tasks for plasma preparation and PCR setup.
  • Verify the quality of reagents and controls using defined procedures.
  • Participate in lab cleaning and organization as required.
  • Monitor and maintain laboratory supplies.
  • Participate in lab quality audits and annual review and updating of standard operating procedures.
  • Work safely, following lab safety SOPs and safety requirements at all times.
Requirements:
  • Certification from a recognized Biotechnology program or completed Genetics undergraduate studies.
  • Experience working in a molecular genetics laboratory.
  • Strong specimen processing skills.
  • Excellent data entry skills.
  • Experience with lab information systems.
  • Accuracy and precision in performing laboratory procedures.
  • Excellent documentation practices.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and emphasize safety/precaution in work practices.
  • Great communication skills in written and oral English.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Maintain strict standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Work well independently and as a member of a team.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Nice to Have:
  • Experience in clinical genetic testing.
  • OSMT certification an asset.
