Job Title: Health Sciences Program Chair

Term of Appointment: Two-year term with 50% release time

Reporting to: Dean of Health Sciences and Human Services

Salary: An annual stipend of $3,127.00, in accordance with BCGEU Faculty Collective Bargaining Agreement.

About the Role

Northern Lights College seeks a highly qualified and experienced individual to serve as the Health Sciences Program Chair. This is a key leadership position that requires a strong commitment to educational excellence and a proven track record of success in academic leadership.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership to the Health Sciences programs, ensuring that they are aligned with the college's mission and goals. This will involve working closely with faculty members, staff, and other stakeholders to develop and implement program plans, policies, and procedures.

The Program Chair will also be responsible for maintaining high standards of teaching, scholarship, and service, and for fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. This will involve providing guidance and support to faculty members, as well as promoting a culture of excellence and innovation within the department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Health Sciences programs
  • Develop and implement program plans, policies, and procedures
  • Maintain high standards of teaching, scholarship, and service
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Provide guidance and support to faculty members
  • Promote a culture of excellence and innovation within the department
Qualifications

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

  • A minimum of five years of instructional experience at the post-secondary level
  • Educational credentials appropriate for the program area
  • Demonstrable commitment to educational leadership
  • Demonstrable excellence in written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrable excellence in team-building and consultative leadership
