Job Title: Respiratory Therapist

At Health Sciences Centre, we are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing therapeutic, diagnostic, and technical respiratory therapy services to our patients.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide respiratory therapy services to patients with respiratory disorders, including ventilation, oxygen therapy, and aerosol therapy.
  • Conduct diagnostic tests to assess respiratory function and develop treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • Develop and implement education programs for patients and families on respiratory health and disease management.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Current registration with the Medical Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta (MARRT) is required.
  • Recent and related clinical experience is preferred.
  • Entry-to-practice academic credential in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited Canadian program or a MARRT-approved equivalent is required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the physiological, social, cultural, and economic aspects of patient care.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other disciplines and demonstrate professional judgment and initiative.
Working Conditions:
  • Good physical and mental health, manual dexterity, and visual acuity are required.
  • Ability to stand and walk and perform manual ventilation with one or both hands for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to run to emergencies.
  • Ability to lift heavy medical equipment and push wheeled medical equipment.
  • May be required to work extended hours and weekends.
  • May be exposed to infectious diseases, blood, and body fluids, radiation, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress, etc.
