Job Summary

Lethbridge School District No.51 is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Educational Support Specialist to join our team. As an Educational Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting students with exceptionalities, providing individualized programs, and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students with targeted and specialized supports and services to effectively participate in their learning community.
  • Implement individualized programs and carry out Positive Behaviour Support Plans as outlined by the child's Learning Team.
  • Ensure students' safety at all times and provide personal care, lifting, and toileting support as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents to develop and implement strategies to support students' social, emotional, and academic needs.
  • Participate in ongoing professional learning and development to enhance skills and knowledge in supporting students with exceptionalities.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or General Educational Development (GED) diploma.
  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in a related field, such as Educational Assistant, Early Childhood Education, or Child & Youth Care.
  • Experience working with students and/or clients with exceptionalities.
  • Training and/or experience in sign language, Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC), and/or Hanen (Learning Language and Loving It/ABC & Beyond) is an asset.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic team and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with a focus on creating opportunities for student success.
Working Conditions

Lethbridge School District No.51 is committed to providing a safe and secure working and learning environment. As an Educational Support Specialist, you will be required to provide a police information check, including a Vulnerable Sector Check, and a satisfactory Intervention Record Check from South Region Alberta Child and Family Services.
