Director, Enterprise Risk Management

About the Role
As Director, Enterprise Risk Management, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and overseeing LCBO's risk management framework. Your responsibilities encompass a wide range of activities, from developing and implementing robust risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring processes to ensuring compliance with industry best practices and regulatory guidelines.
- Lead the continuous evolution of LCBO's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program, aligning it with OPS Directive/guidance and industry standards. This includes refining methodologies, policies, guidance materials, templates, and the overarching Framework document, encompassing risk definitions, metrics, and risk appetite statements.
- Provide strategic direction and oversight to the Risk Management Oversight Committee (RMOC), ensuring its effectiveness in guiding LCBO's risk management efforts.
- Spearhead the development and implementation of enhanced entity-level risk reporting mechanisms, providing stakeholders with clear and actionable insights into LCBO's risk profile.
- Design and implement innovative risk identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring processes across various functional levels within LCBO, integrating them seamlessly into critical decision-making processes.
- Champion the adoption and utilization of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) to effectively track and measure LCBO's risk exposure and performance in managing risks.
- Establish and maintain a secure ERM application or process for the centralized storage and management of all risk-related documentation and activities.
- Conduct comprehensive external risk scanning on a quarterly basis, providing valuable insights to the RMOC for informed decision-making.
- Lead and mentor your team of risk professionals, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and resources to deliver exceptional results year after year.
- Develop and manage the annual budget for the ERM function, collaborating closely with the VP to ensure alignment with LCBO's strategic objectives.
- Monitor actual expenditures against the approved budget throughout the year, preparing reforecasts as needed in consultation with the VP.
About You
You are a seasoned risk management professional with a proven track record of success in implementing comprehensive ERM programs. Your deep understanding of risk management principles, frameworks, and best practices, coupled with your exceptional leadership and communication skills, make you an ideal candidate for this role.
- Possess a University Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Hold a relevant professional designation (e.g., Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Risk Management Professional (CRMP), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Canadian Risk Management designation (CRM)).
- Have 10+ years of experience in enterprise risk management, including the implementation of ERM programs at all levels.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of enterprise risk management governance, frameworks, and fundamentals, including relevant frameworks such as COSO and ISO.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in facilitating, presenting, documenting, and reporting.
- Possess exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Be proficient in utilizing risk management software and tools.
