The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking two full-time, permanent Registered Medical Laboratory Technologists (MLT) to join our Clinical Laboratory team.
In this role, you will report directly to the Laboratory Director and collaborate closely with the Laboratory Supervisor. Your primary responsibilities will involve executing, sustaining, and enhancing quality processes in accordance with the laboratory's quality management system.
You may also be tasked with conducting routine analyses in Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, and Coagulation, as well as specialized Biochemistry tests, adhering to all legislative, accreditation, and best laboratory practices.
Additional responsibilities will be assigned as necessary. You will embody the values of CAMH and uphold professional practice standards in patient and client care. Your support will foster a diverse workplace that values teamwork and complies with all relevant regulatory and legislative standards.
QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have graduated from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technologist program as a General MLT, complemented by at least one year of experience in a Core Laboratory setting. Registration in good standing with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) is required.
A Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry or Chemistry is preferred, as our laboratory conducts high-complexity Biochemistry testing utilizing gas or liquid chromatography with UV or mass spectrometry detection.
Experience with laboratory AC Diagnostics (formerly IQMH) accreditation requirements is essential, along with a thorough understanding of quality management system principles and values. The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and demonstrate strong organizational abilities to prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring reliable and prompt patient care while maintaining high work efficiency.
Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and familiarity with laboratory information systems, is necessary. The ability to exercise independent judgment and apply deductive reasoning with meticulous attention to detail is crucial. Experience working with clients from diverse cultural and social backgrounds is required. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in a second language would be advantageous.
