About the Role

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Project Management and Technology Services to join our team. As a key member of our IT Strategy and Project Management Unit, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful execution of our mission by providing direction to a team of Business Analysts, Quality Assurance Analysts, and Project Managers aligned with our various IT portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Leadership and Team Management: Manage teams of Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Quality Assurance Analysts, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure the success of our IT projects.
  2. Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans that drive business growth and operational efficiency, aligning with our agency goals and objectives.
  3. Project Management: Work with Business Analysts and Project Managers to manage the product backlog for each project, defining priorities and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  4. Quality Assurance: Ensure quality control for the applications developed, identifying and mitigating risks associated with project delivery and technology services.
  5. Communication and Collaboration: Act as the primary liaison between IT and business units, ensuring alignment of IT services with business needs and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  6. Reporting and Documentation: Report to management on the status of the portfolio, ensuring documentation is developed and maintained for the portfolio.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of 10 years of experience in IT project management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role. You should have demonstrated leadership capabilities, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams. A master's degree in computer science or a related field is preferred, but not required.

  6. Experience and knowledge of the SCRUM Process.
  7. Previous experience in Business / Systems Analysis / Product Ownership or Quality Assurance.
  8. Proven experience in eliciting requirements and testing.
  9. Experience in analyzing data to draw business-relevant conclusions and in data visualization techniques and tools.
  10. Basic knowledge in generating process documentation.
  11. Ability to work independently and manage multiple complex projects.
  12. Ability to build strong relationships and bring people together towards a common goal.
