About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Carpenter to join our team at School District #57 (Prince George). As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the construction and maintenance of buildings, grounds, and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construct, install, repair, and maintain buildings, furnishings, equipment, and carpentry-related grounds projects.
  • Perform carpentry-related duties in related areas such as concrete, millwork, glass replacement, drywall, and floor coverings.
  • Perform layout of new construction and alterations from drawings, sketches, and/or specifications.
  • Report parts and supplies inventory levels.
  • Report work completed, including time and materials used.
  • Direct, advise, or assist other employees as appropriate.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
  • Perform other maintenance-related or emergent duties.
Requirements
  • Successful completion of B.C. Apprenticeship Program and a valid B.C. or Interprovincial Trade Certification as a carpenter.
  • Minimum one year related experience at the journeyman level.
  • A valid B.C. Class 5 driver's license.
  • Knowledge of health and safety procedures, including Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System, Workers' Compensation regulations.
  • Competent in the use and care of tools and equipment common to this trade.
  • Ability to plan and schedule work and organize the workload effectively.
  • Ability to work in confined areas and at heights.
  • Ability to maintain close attention to detail.
  • Ability to use courtesy and tact in the explanation of and discussion of information in contact with students, suppliers, and other staff.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform individually and as part of a team.
