Position Overview

The Building Maintenance Worker plays a crucial role in ensuring the functionality and safety of the facilities at Howard Johnson Grande Prairie. This position requires a hands-on approach to maintenance tasks and the ability to work independently.

Educational Requirements
  • Completion of secondary (high) school graduation certificate is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform adjustments and minor repairs on heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and electrical systems, while coordinating with tradespersons for more extensive repairs.
  • Engage with contractors for maintenance and repair services.
  • Conduct minor appliance repairs as needed.
  • Execute safety and security inspections regularly.
  • Oversee the work of other maintenance personnel.
  • Assist in moving heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
  • Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including painting and drywall repairs.
  • Work effectively with minimal supervision.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • This role is physically demanding, requiring bending, crouching, and kneeling.
Personal Attributes
  • Dependability and reliability are essential traits for success in this position.
Experience Requirements
  • A minimum of 7 months to less than 1 year of relevant experience is preferred.
  • This is a permanent position with a commitment of 40 hours per week.
