Job Title: Intermediate Underwriter

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Intermediate Underwriter to join our team at Wawanesa Insurance. As an Underwriter, you will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating risks to determine the acceptability of business and providing value-added expertise and service to policyholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and evaluate risks using technology and external data sources to determine the acceptability of business.
  • Determine eligibility for policy renewals based on company guidelines and retention goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of decisions made and ensure completeness of policy data.
  • Communicate decisions and respond to requests in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Assist with interpretation of rating procedures, wordings, underwriting policies, and regulations.
  • Handle work assignments efficiently and work effectively towards team goals.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal and external parties.

Requirements:

  • Three years of Property and Casualty industry experience.
  • Good communication skills in French and English, both written and spoken.
  • Post-secondary education or related business experience.
  • Completed or actively pursuing a Property and Casualty Industry Designation.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and decision-making skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize daily work.
