Position Overview:

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a dedicated legal professional to provide expert counsel in family law and child welfare issues. As a key member of our legal team, you will advocate for the rights and interests of individuals navigating complex family law situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive legal advice and representation in family law matters, ensuring the protection of clients' legal rights.
  • Evaluate applications for legal aid, providing thorough assessments that significantly influence client outcomes.
  • Manage a diverse caseload, including custody disputes, child support claims, and child protection cases, with a focus on achieving favorable resolutions.

Qualifications:

  • A Juris Doctor degree and eligibility for membership in the NWT Bar.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in family law practice.
  • Proven experience in a legal aid clinic setting, including oversight of junior lawyers and support personnel.

Compensation and Benefits:

The Government of Northwest Territories offers a competitive salary range of $125,000 - $150,000, along with professional development opportunities, a cost of living allowance of $3,700, a robust pension plan, various leave options, and comprehensive health and dental benefits.
