Position Overview
The Faculty of Nursing is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Nursing Practicum Education Facilitator. We invite applications from Registered Nurses or Registered Psychiatric Nurses who possess recent experience in practice education across diverse healthcare environments. This role involves the instruction, oversight, mentorship, and assessment of nursing students in various educational, community, and laboratory settings throughout the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (SCBScN) program. Responsibilities will vary based on the educational setting and assigned course.The key responsibilities include both formative and summative assessments of students' performance in practice education, community, and laboratory settings, ensuring alignment with course competencies and learning objectives. This may also involve determining students' practice education placements, providing instructional support, evaluating student progress, and offering guidance during research activities within the agency. Candidates are expected to exemplify professionalism, accountability, and dependability. Participation in student evaluations necessitates fostering the learner's development and delivering constructive feedback to facilitate their advancement toward achieving course competencies and learning outcomes.
Responsibilities may encompass low, medium, and high-fidelity simulation exercises and interprofessional educational events.
This position requires exceptional collaboration and communication skills within teaching teams and with interdisciplinary partners in practice education settings.
Opportunities for engagement in SCBScN program initiatives are available.
Travel may be a component of this role. Position Qualifications:
- Active membership in good standing with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS) and/or the Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of Saskatchewan (RPNAS);
- Current CPR BLS Provider or BLS (HCP) certification within the last two years;
- Current TLR certification within the last three years;
- Current mask fit testing within the last three years;
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing;
- A minimum of two years of recent and relevant experience as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse;
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities;
- Application of adult education theories, practices, and principles;
- Facilitation and engagement in small group settings through leading, modeling, and teaching.
