Process Engineering Manager

The Engineering Lead will be responsible for leading Tersa Earth's process engineering work in developing and scaling up our technologies for mining wastewater remediation. This includes microbial fuel cells and microbially induced carbonate precipitation towards pH neutralization and metal removal and recovery. The successful candidate will oversee all process design work and manage all engineering projects.
Responsibilities- Manage the scale-up and testing of our technologies, including pilot scale, field trial, and commercialization phases.
- Oversee technoeconomic analyses and provide recommendations on economic feasibility.
- Provide technical guidance to the engineering team on process design, materials, monitoring, experiment design, process engineering, equipment design, process controls and safety.
- Oversee testing of the technologies at various stages to ensure proper implementation of safety procedures and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Facilitate continuous monitoring of the technologies for performance and identify areas of improvement.
- Collaborate with management on project goals, deliverables, and timelines.
- Work with the research team and leadership team to strategize new projects focused on innovation and improvement.
- Use project management principles and software to streamline workflows and track progress.
- Lead proposal development for new treatment projects.
- Communicate and collaborate with external stakeholders, including external engineering firms, contract manufacturers, and potential clients.
- Achieve project objectives on time and within budget.
- Track overall carbon emissions and oversee life cycle analyses.
- Produce reports and documentation, such as technical reports and presentations, standard operating procedures, P&IDs, engineering drawings, and management updates.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in chemical engineering, process engineering, bioprocess engineering, or a related discipline.
- 10+ years of industry experience in process design and technology development and scale-up.
- P. Eng designation in chemical engineering.
- Experience in biotechnology, water treatment, fuel cell development, and/or mining.
- Strong understanding of chemical, physical, and biological sciences and their application to reactor design and operation.
- Strong knowledge of electrochemistry, materials engineering, and/or fuel cell technology (microbial or other) required.
- Proven ability managing and leading engineering teams in technology scale-up.
- Familiarity with project design and management principles and software.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory requirements for reactor design and operation.
- Expertise in mining tailings management and regulations is an asset.
- Possesses a positive and adaptable attitude within a fast-paced and collaborative work environment.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral), with the ability to produce technical documents and presentations to communicate concepts and results clearly to an interdisciplinary audience.
- Demonstrated ability to handle complex projects and meet deadlines.
Full-time
Pay$90,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
