We are seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our Dialysis Department at Headwaters Health Care Centre. As a member of our inter-professional team, you will provide high-quality patient care and contribute to our mission of delivering exceptional healthcare services to our community.
Job Summary:The successful candidate will be responsible for providing general Hemodialysis nursing duties to patients who are identified as less complex, demonstrate more predictable outcomes, and are at lower risk for negative outcomes in hemodialysis. This role requires a strong understanding of hemodialysis nursing practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:- Provide general Hemodialysis nursing duties to patients who are identified as less complex, demonstrate more predictable outcomes, and are at lower risk for negative outcomes in hemodialysis.
- Complete work assignments on a daily basis, according to the Practice Standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), and approved standards of care of the Corporation.
- Collaborate with the inter-professional team to provide comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in ongoing education and professional development to maintain current knowledge and skills.
- Current Certificate of Registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN), in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Minimum two years of hemodialysis experience within the last five years required.
- Minimum five years medicine nursing experience required.
- Nephrology certificate required or enrolled and will successfully complete Nephrology certificate within 3 years of hire.
- Completion of vascular access modules from the Ontario Renal Network required.
- Current BCLS certification required.
- Management of Aggressive Behavior or equivalent preferred.
- Certificate in Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) preferred.
- Current ACLS certification, or completion within 3 months of hire (completion preferred).
- Competence in starting and maintaining IV's.
- Excellent physical assessment skills required.
- Medication Administration certificate and patient assessment course required for RPNs graduating prior 2005.
- Exemplary clinical practice within an inter-professional team and ability to work collaboratively as a member of an inter-professional team.
