Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Data Science Co-op to join our team. As a Data Science Co-op, you will collaborate with our teams to support Semios in building the most integrated platform in Agriculture using the latest technologies in analytics and AI irrigation management and monitoring. You will work with a big data platform, gaining experience with SQL, Python, BigQuery, Jupyter, Vertex AI, and data visualization tools.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in data collection, cleansing, exploration, and building impactful insights to optimize grower operations and processes.
  • Build ad hoc reporting tools for internal business users.
  • Review and optimize existing machine learning models.
  • Connect and correlate information from different data sources.
  • Design and implement optimal schemas for delivering insight in a timely, accurate, cost-effective, and useful manner.
  • Deliver insight to internal customers as needed.
Requirements
  • Currently enrolled and working towards a post-secondary degree in data analytics, data science, computer science, agriculture, or a related field, and registered in a recognized cooperative education program.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Course work or experience programming with SQL.
  • Exposure to R or Python.
  • Basic understanding of the evolving AI ecosystem.
  • Course work or experience with BI visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
Nice to Have
  • Experience working with big data and big data infrastructures.
  • Experience working in a cloud environment.
  • Experience working with data analytics products such as BigQuery.
