We are seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Investment Analyst to join our Corporate Development team in Calgary, Alberta. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical part in advancing TransAlta's strategic growth initiatives and supporting the optimization of our existing generation portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Provide financial analysis and other analytical support of growth opportunities, including potential acquisitions and business development projects
- Ensure all inputs to financial models have been agreed to and signed off by sponsoring project manager
- Deliver accurate analysis of the corporate impacts of investment decisions
- Perform ad hoc analysis, including the creation of financial models, analysis of business trends to support the growth of the business, and research to support corporate strategy development
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a corporate strategy and or planning/analysis role
- Degree and/or professional designation in, business, finance, economics, or other applicable degree
- Previous corporate development or investment banking experience is preferred
- CFA preferred, or working towards CFA
- Expert skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Highly skilled financial background with an understanding of the principles of financial analysis, key financial metrics that generate value, mergers and acquisitions, and financial statement analysis
- Experience in financial spreadsheet modelling
- Ability to handle multiple projects at various stages and to prioritize with the assistance of Manager
- Well-developed understanding of valuation techniques and financial metrics
- Ability to work independently and produce results within agreed upon deadlines
- Exemplary communicator with excellent written and oral business communication skills
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with people at all organizational levels
- Willing to dedicate time necessary to deliver on tight deadlines
- Enjoys working on multiple assignments and thrives under pressure
