About the Team & Role:

The Engineering team at Composer is at the forefront of developing our automated trading platform. This platform integrates complex trading algorithms with a user-friendly interface, making advanced trading strategies accessible to a broader audience. As a director of engineering, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our product's future. You'll lead a team of skilled engineers in building scalable, reliable systems, ensuring our platform remains at the cutting edge of trading technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering an environment of innovation and excellence.
  2. Oversee the development and implementation of high-performance trading systems, ensuring they meet our rigorous standards for speed, accuracy, and reliability.
  3. Prioritize a multitude of requests for the engineering team, taking into account resource constraints and business objectives.
  4. Collaborate with product, marketing, and compliance to align engineering projects with company objectives and customer needs.
  5. Maximize the velocity of the team while maintaining a high quality bar.

Requirements:

  1. A seasoned engineering leader with experience managing teams in fast-paced startups. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of engineering experience and at least 2+ years in a management role.
  2. Thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment. You like bringing order to chaos and have excellent prioritization and organizational skills.
  3. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. You're a great collaborator, fostering healthy team dynamics and cross-functional partnerships.
  4. Experience with modern programming languages and frameworks.

Interest in functional programming.
