Humber River Health is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Unit Aide to join our Maternal and Child Program team. As a Unit Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our birthing unit, providing exceptional patient care, and supporting our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:- Stock and maintain supply carts and ensure daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks are completed.
- Transport clean stretchers, carts, medical/surgical equipment, and supplies as needed.
- Distribute and collect supplies, equipment, and instruments in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure sufficient supplies are available for patient care and maintain a safe and clean environment.
- Act as a liaison with SPD, stores, JCI, and BU team members to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
- Assist with patient transfers, including moving patients from the birthing unit to the maternity unit.
- Notify the manager/designate of broken equipment repairs or replacement and initiate the reporting and transportation of broken equipment to Biomedical Engineering or Maintenance as required.
- Completion of minimum high school grade 12 and ability to produce a diploma of completion.
- CSAO or Sterile Supply Processing certificate preferred.
- Understanding and adherence to hospital policies and procedures, including Infection Control policies, uniform dress code, cell phones, and mandatory legislation.
- Proficient in basic computer skills, including email and MS Office.
- Two years of recent related hospital medical/surgical supply experience preferred.
- Hospital experience preferred and knowledge of medical terminology is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to speak, read, and interpret the English language (written and verbal).
- Demonstrated ability to use positive communication skills with patients, families, and colleagues.
