Our client, a prominent global engineering organization, is in search of a Project Controls Specialist to join their Transportation Systems division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Report directly to the Director of Project Controls, providing essential support to the Rail & Transit division in overseeing and managing significant Rail & Transit initiatives.
- Engage in cost management, variance analysis, forecasting, and comprehensive reporting.
- Participate in earned value management, change management, and risk assessment activities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, Contract Administrators, Sub-Consultants, and other personnel as necessary.
- Ensure project oversight and governance while establishing effective communication with clients and the internal Project Controls team.
- Manage project administration tasks such as budgeting, scheduling, contract oversight, invoicing, and quality assurance of deliverables.
- Actively oversee baseline budgets, schedules, and work breakdown structures to monitor hours and expenditures.
- Ensure the preparation, management, and timely updates of Project Execution Plans, Financial Forecasting, Resource Plans, and Schedules.
- Present operational insights to senior management clearly and confidently, aligning them with the company's strategic growth objectives.
- Lead the development of Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and project coding frameworks utilizing Primavera P6 software in collaboration with Project Planners and Schedulers.
- Identify and communicate deviations from the established plan, proposing solutions for issues that significantly impact project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Implement effective progress measurement techniques tailored to the project's size and complexity.
- Assist in the creation of reporting packages for project, sponsorship, and executive review teams.
- Participate in meetings and information sessions with business and executive management as required.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a Project Controls capacity.
- A post-secondary diploma or degree in project management, finance, or business is preferred.
- Proven experience in Project Controls for major and complex multidisciplinary projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel or Primavera P6.
- Demonstrated adaptability and flexibility, with the ability to manage deadline pressure and navigate ambiguity and change.
- Capacity to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously, effectively managing time, organization, and prioritization.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, including expertise in report writing, editing, and proofreading.
