Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team at School District #23 (Central Okanagan). As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for installing, testing, repairing, and maintaining electrical equipment and systems throughout our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, test, repair, and maintain electrical equipment and systems, including electrical service, lighting, motor controls, P.A. systems, fire alarm, intrusion alarms, network wiring, media retrieval, telephones, etc.
  • Work under the supervision of the Director of Operations or designate to ensure compliance with safety protocols and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance staff to ensure seamless operation of electrical systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including cleaning and inspecting electrical equipment and systems.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as electrical outages or equipment failures.
  • Develop and implement procedures to ensure electrical systems are functioning efficiently and safely.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Interprovincial or B.C. Trades Qualification in Electrical.
  • Proven experience working with all types of electrical systems, including electrical service, lighting, motor controls, P.A. systems, fire alarm, intrusion alarms, network wiring, media retrieval, telephones, etc.
  • Valid Field Safety Representative Number.
  • Valid B.C. Driver's License.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, work alone and within a team environment, and be self-motivated.
  • Knowledge of current construction safety practices.
  • Physical condition and health to carry out the required duties of this position.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Assets
  • Two (2) years experience at a journeyperson level in maintenance/construction practices and procedures in a commercial environment.
  • Electrical code updating course.
  • First Aid Level 2 Certificate.
