Nursing Graduate Guarantee Program

Mackenzie Health is proud to participate in the Nursing Graduate Guarantee (NGG) program, offering newly registered nurses and practical nurses a unique opportunity to launch their careers.
Program OverviewThe NGG program provides full-time employment at above staffing complement during the 12-week transition to practice period. Participants will be partnered with an experienced nurse to support their successful transition to practice.
Eligibility Criteria- Must match with an employer on the NGG online portal within 12 months of registering with the CNO
- Must commit to accepting full-time employment or the equivalent of full-time hours with their NGG employer after completing the NGG program transition into practice period
- Must be a graduate with a Nursing Diploma in registered practical nursing from a recognized nursing program OR must be a graduate with a baccalaureate degree in nursing from a recognized Nursing program, within the last six months
- Current Certificate of Registration in the General Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
- Proven clinical experience with patient-focused care, including strong patient assessment, care planning, patient education and documentation skills
- General orientation to the organization, allowing you to gain consistent knowledge on organizational practices, policies and standards
- A mentor will be available to work with you and a designated transition into practice leader who is accountable for monitoring your progress
- A learning plan will be developed by you and your mentor
- Meeting the goals of the learning plan, including a variety of teaching strategies and delivery methods to educate on competencies, as it relates to your area/unit of employment
- Managing a workload effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Addressing and resolving issues in a productive, respectful manner
- Exercising sound professional judgment and using best practice guidelines
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive environment for all through compliance with patient and staff safety policies and procedures
