About the Job

We are seeking a reliable and physically capable Labourer to join our team at the Village of New Minas. As a Labourer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and upkeep of our public grounds and infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and Maintain Public Grounds: Sweep debris and remove snow from streets, sidewalks, building grounds, and other areas, and load snow and debris into carts or trucks.
  • Operate Heavy Equipment: Assist in routine maintenance and repair of equipment, and load and unload trucks with supplies and equipment.
  • Perform Snow Removal: Spread sand or salt on sidewalks for snow or ice control.
  • Collect and Load Refuse: Collect and load refuse on garbage trucks.
  • Perform Other Tasks: Clean and maintain sidewalks, streets, roads, and public grounds.
Requirements
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: Experience an asset, or equivalent experience.
  • Language: English.
  • Work Environment: At heights, cold/refrigerated, dusty, hot, noisy, odours, outdoors, wet/damp.
  • Work Setting: Municipal government.
  • Transportation: Own transportation, valid driver's licence.
  • Physical Capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling, combination of sitting, standing, walking, physically demanding, repetitive tasks, more than 45 kg (100 lbs).
  • Personal Suitability: Dependability, efficient interpersonal skills, excellent oral communication, flexibility, judgement, team player.
