As a Dietitian, you will play a crucial role in providing nutritional guidance and support to our residents. You will contribute to promoting healthy eating habits and improving overall well-being.
Responsibilities:
- Stay current with the latest research by attending dietary workshops, seminars, conferences, and classes.
- Review physical condition, physician orders, and psychological needs of residents to ensure high standards of nutritional intake.
- Research new developments in long-term care as it relates to diet and dietary requirements.
- Implement dietary measures with a long-term view of maintaining or improving a patient's quality of life.
- Continually assess residents for any changes to their current physical abilities and future changes to their care.
- Compare the effectiveness of dietary plans against resident's progress notes and modify or alter plans if necessary.
- Discuss care plan meetings with the families of patients so that they are included in the necessary programs.
- Chart and document all dietary progress notes, including counseling, diet instructions.
- Assess the need for new methods of feeding.
- Educate and inform the food services department as necessary regarding diet therapy and nutritional requirements.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Foods and Nutrition, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must be registered with the Nova Scotia College of Dietitians and Nutritionists.
- Excellent ability to manage high-stress or highly emotional situations.
- Sound judgment and able to execute decisions efficiently.
