Operating Room Nurse

About the Role
The University Health Network is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our Operating Room team at Toronto Western Hospital. As a member of our interprofessional team, you will practice in accordance with relevant legislation, the UHN Professional Practice Model, and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply knowledge of nursing science, theory, skill, and critical decision-making in the provision of compassionate, collaborative, and competent care.
- Ensure practice is consistent with professional standards and the ethical framework as outlined by the College of Nurses of Ontario and UHN policy and procedure.
- Participate in continuing education activities to meet the needs of the patient population served and the standards of the profession.
- Perform reflective practice, analyzing and evaluating nursing knowledge, and modifying practice accordingly to improve the quality of nursing and patient care.
- Perform cross-functional and other responsibilities as assigned and/or requested.
Requirements
- Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification required.
- Member of Perioperative Nurse Association an asset.
- Flexible and able to work effectively and efficiently within an interdisciplinary patient care team.
- Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
- BScN degree or equivalent.
- Completion of an Operating Room course preferred; would consider sponsoring a qualified applicant through the Operating Room course Certificate Program.
- Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
