Position: Research Associate in Corneal Neurotisation

The Centre de recherche de l'Hôpital Maisonneuve-Rosemont is seeking a dedicated individual to support Dr. Isabelle Brunette's research initiatives within the Department of Ophthalmology. This role focuses on investigating corneal neurotisation, aiming to enhance our understanding of the processes involved in corneal reinnervation after nerve transplantation or transfer. The ultimate goal is to advance the rehabilitation strategies for patients suffering from neurotrophic keratopathy.

This multidisciplinary research will appeal to candidates with backgrounds in both clinical and basic research, as it encompasses the exploration of corneal reinnervation from anatomical and functional perspectives, including nerve and growth factors, as well as the impact on patient quality of life. The selected candidate will engage in various aspects of the research project, such as:

  • Recruiting participants for the study
  • Conducting laboratory assessments
  • Collecting and analyzing data
  • Reviewing relevant literature
  • Presenting research findings

This project will be executed in close partnership with clinicians, researchers, and hospital personnel.

Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biological sciences, neuroscience, or a related discipline
  • Eligibility for the full-time M.Sc. or Ph.D. program at the University of Montreal
