About the Role:
The City of Abbotsford is seeking a highly motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team as a Facility Operations Assistant. As a key member of our Parks, Recreation and Culture department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our arenas, community recreation centers, and aquatics programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide exceptional customer service to patrons, ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment on and off the ice.
- Monitor ice traffic control and safety, issuing and retrieving rental skates, and reporting any safety or operational concerns.
- Support program set up and take down, respond to patron inquiries and requests, and maintain site organization and cleanliness.
- Oversee and assist with various tasks related to the operation of the arenas and community recreation centers.
Requirements:
- Grade 10 education
- A minimum of one year of customer service experience
- A valid Standard First Aid with CPR-C (infant/child/adult) certificate
- Intermediate skating skills, including the ability to skate forwards, backwards, stop, crossover, and assist patrons on and off the ice
Working Conditions:
This is a part-time position, with shifts available at various recreation centers. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and evenings.
Compensation:
The hourly rate of pay for this position is from $17.40 to $20.08, and is unionized under CUPE Local.
