Tax Director

**About the Role**
We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Director to join our team at Brookfield Asset Management, Inc. As a key member of our tax department, you will be responsible for providing Canadian international tax support and ensuring compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Canadian International Tax Support: Analyze and model the Canadian tax implications of foreign affiliate transactions, including drafting and reviewing steps plans, analyzing foreign affiliate financial statements, reviewing legal agreements, and communicating Canadian tax considerations to stakeholders globally.
- Transaction Coordination: Coordinate internal and external teams of professionals to ensure timely and accurate implementation of transactions.
- Accounting and Compliance: Work with accounting and compliance teams to ensure transactions are accurately documented and reported.
- Funds Flow Memos: Draft funds flow memos setting out the appropriate characterization of cash movements for day-to-day cash movements and larger transactions.
- Internal Protocols: Collaborate with professionals throughout the organization to ensure all internal mandated legal entity protocols are complied with.
- Tax Law Updates: Stay current with changing tax laws that may impact the relevant transactions and structures.
- International Tax Compliance: Assist with international tax compliance and reporting, including surplus & ACB computations, excluded property analysis, tax provisions, and T1134 forms review.
- Government and Auditor Communication: Communicate with government and financial statement auditors and respond to audit requests.
Requirements:
- 7-10 years of progressive Canadian tax experience with more than 5 years of outbound international tax specialization in a Big 4 public accounting firm, law firm, and/or a large multinational Canadian company.
- Experience managing large and complex transactions.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to describe complex tax concepts to various non-tax audiences in a clear and concise manner.
- Self-motivated and proactive with respect to managing workload and professional development.
- Skilled in the use of Excel for modeling.
