CB Canada is a leading organization in the steel fabrication industry, committed to delivering high-quality products and services to its clients. Due to its continued growth and expansion into new markets, CB Canada is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Controller to join its team.

The Role

The Plant Controller will report directly to the Corporate Controller and will be responsible for overseeing all financial operations at the Hamilton plant. This includes managing a team of three direct reports, ensuring the month-end close process is completed accurately and on time, and preparing financial statements and management reports for external stakeholders and senior management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of finance for the Hamilton plant, including costing, billing, accounts receivable, purchasing, inventory management, accounts payable, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Lead the implementation of the ERP system at the site, ensuring seamless integration and process improvements.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting packages for external stakeholders and management, and assist with the month-end closing and year-end audit processes.
  • Develop and implement a capital expenditure process to evaluate and track capital spending.
  • Identify risk areas, evaluate best practices, and implement process improvements to enhance financial operations and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Strong accounting background with 5+ years of cost and financial accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent computer skills, specifically relating to Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
  • Well-organized, proactive, and detail-oriented individual able to self-manage and work as part of a team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Highly technical accountant with strong attention to detail and ability to offer process improvements and innovative solutions.
  • CPA designation.
  • Familiarity with steel fabrication and construction an asset.
