Accounting Manager Job Description

As a key member of our finance team, the Accounting Manager will play a vital role in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of our organization. This role requires a strong leader who can oversee key accounting functions, lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, and drive excellence within the finance department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and review of financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Accounting Operations: Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and communicating with vendors and clients as needed.
  • Grant Accounting: Ensure accurate and timely grant accounting, including tracking and reporting on grant expenditures and revenues.
  • Audit Support: Assist in the preparation for annual financial audits, including gathering documentation, answering inquiries, and implementing audit recommendations.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support decision-making processes and identify opportunities for operational improvement.
Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in a non-profit setting, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Adagio) and Microsoft Excel; strong understanding of GAAP and non-profit accounting principles.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading and developing a team, with effective leadership skills and the ability to inspire and manage accounting professionals.
