Role Overview:

The Prosecutor is responsible for managing Provincial Offences Act prosecutions and appeals related to various statutes and bylaws.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct prosecutions under Provincial and Federal statutes, as well as municipal bylaws in Provincial Courts. This includes evaluating charges, reviewing evidence admissibility, conducting legal research, and preparing case law responses.
  • Represent the organization in higher Courts on appeal matters.
  • Provide legal advice to legal professionals, Ministry officials, and the public regarding the Provincial Offences Act and related legislation.
  • Assist in gathering evidence and conducting research for the Manager.
  • Participate in project teams to offer legal insights.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and legal entities to provide training on evidence collection and prosecution processes.
  • Support the Manager as needed and perform related duties.


Qualifications:
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Provincial Offences Act, Highway Traffic Act, legal procedures, and relevant case law, typically acquired through a diploma in a related field and relevant prosecution experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret legal documents and determine appropriate actions.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to present legal arguments and represent the organization effectively.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office and legal software.
  • Ability to travel as required.
