Saskatchewan Polytechnic is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Instructor for our Disability Support Services program. As an Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality education and training to students with varying abilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver lesson plans, lectures, and demonstrations to students with varying abilities.
- Design, update, and construct training aids and materials to support student learning.
- Supervise students in classrooms, labs, and work placements, ensuring a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Evaluate and record student progress, using assessments, assignments, and observations to inform instruction.
- Use instructional methodologies that cater to diverse learning needs and promote cultural sensitivity.
- Manage the classroom to ensure an optimal learning environment, promoting student engagement and motivation.
- Develop and deliver content that reflects the values, beliefs, and needs of a culturally diverse community.
- Provide constructive feedback and assessment to students, promoting their growth and development.
- Stay current with curriculum demands and make adjustments as needed to meet learner needs.
- Develop new curriculum and maintain online materials to support student learning.
- Be reflective and responsive to the needs of students with special learning requirements, including equity groups and diverse learners.
- Develop working relationships with external partners and employers to support student work experience.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to stay current with employer and educational requirements.
- Collaborate with colleagues in an interdependent team environment.
- Adhere to policies and procedures adopted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
- Attend program and school meetings.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
- Recognized relevant four-year degree (Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Indigenous Social Work, Bachelor of Education Degree) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Two years recent and relevant work experience working with services to individuals with varying abilities.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Effective instructional ability and ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment.
- Demonstrated competence and recent experience in the use of technology, including the internet, email, and MS Office Suite software.
- Demonstrated valuing of diversity and commitment to promoting inclusive education.
