POSITION SUMMARY

This role involves grounds maintenance responsibilities.

The successful candidate will be tasked with executing all aspects of grounds upkeep, including snow management. The position requires collaboration within a team as well as the ability to work independently, and may involve supervising seasonal interns.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and care for garden and turf areas, including irrigation
  • Prune shrubs and trees as necessary
  • Restore and enhance landscape areas
  • Operate equipment such as skid steers, small loaders, and ride-on mowers
  • Manually remove snow and sand entryways
  • Repair potholes, grade gravel parking lots, and maintain signage
  • Manage waste disposal and recycling

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Horticulture or equivalent qualification in Landscape Gardening
  • 3-5 years of experience in grounds maintenance
  • Valid class 5 driver's license
  • Strong knowledge of horticultural practices and a commitment to ongoing education
  • Familiarity with snow removal techniques, including clearing, sanding, and hauling
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficient in operating various equipment, including mowers and utility vehicles
  • Physical ability to stand, kneel, and lift up to 25kg for extended periods
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Capability to navigate uneven terrain and inclines
  • Basic equipment maintenance skills, including greasing and blade changes
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Capacity to follow directions and make independent decisions
