Clinical Social Worker, In-Patient Psychiatry MHSU, Masters

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Social Worker to join our In-Patient Psychiatry team at MHSU. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide clinical social work counselling services to patients and families, conduct comprehensive assessments, and develop and implement care plans to ensure optimal continuity of care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide clinical social work counselling services to patients and families in the clinical specialty area within Psychiatry.
- Conduct comprehensive social work and psychosocial assessments of patients suffering acute episodes of mental illness and substance misuse/dependence.
- Develop and implement care plans to ensure optimal continuity of care, including discharge planning and coordination with community services.
- Provide education and support to patients, families, and healthcare professionals on issues related to mental health, child protection, and community living.
- Participate in research activities and program planning and development relevant to the needs of patients, families, and the community.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Social Work from an approved school of Social Work.
- Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers.
- Two years' recent, related clinical experience in a mental health treatment setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of emotional issues related to mental illness and addictions.
- Ability to educate and provide consultation to patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work effectively with others, including working effectively in a multicultural environment.
