Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Collections Driver to join our team. As a Collections Driver, you will be responsible for collecting and transporting recyclable materials to our processing facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect and transport recyclable materials from donation bins and other collection points.
- Ensure all work areas are maintained, cleaned, and in operational condition.
- Collaborate with collection supervisors to maintain bins and replace them as needed.
- Dispose of garbage collected from collection bins to the dump yard and warehouse compactors.
- Scan and access products collected from home pick-up locations and ensure they are resalable and compliant with company standards.
- Schedule product deliveries and pickups to Talize stores as needed.
- Assist the administration team in collecting company supplies from vendors.
- Report incidents or accidents to immediate supervisors or managers.
- Follow company protocols and transportation laws for commercial trucks and Ministry of Transportation regulations.
- Maintain vehicles in operational condition and ensure they are ready for use at the start and end of each shift.
- Communicate effectively with third-party vendors and customers to provide excellent customer service.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a driver or in a similar capacity.
- Minimum 25 years of age.
- Experience driving 18-24 feet trucks/vehicles.
- Must have G license with a good driving abstract.
Core Competencies:
- Communication skills – must be able to read and speak English well enough to understand road signs, prepare reports, and communicate with law enforcement officers and the public.
- Integrity and honesty – must be able to work with complete honesty and dedication by showing up on time and completing tasks as assigned.
- Decision making – clear understanding of the product that needs to be collected from donation sites.
- Tactful and people skills – aware of the surrounding and situations and react accordingly.
- Flexibility – extremely flexible to perform various job duties and adapt to schedules.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Ability to drive for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 lbs. or more without assistance.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Physically alert while driving vehicles.
