About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Product Actuary to join our Retail Actuarial team at THE EMPIRE LIFE INS. CO. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the actuarial pricing, profitability, and risk analysis of our Retail insurance products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the pricing analysis, modeling, and performance monitoring of our Individual Life and Health new business portfolio.
  • Collaborate with our Product Development team to review new product opportunities and changes to existing products.
  • Present pricing and risk management recommendations to our senior management teams.
  • Act as an actuarial subject matter expert on in-force product reviews.
  • Supervise and coordinate the product development work of our Retail Actuarial employees.
  • Liaise with our reinsurance partners to support ongoing product development of our Individual Life and Health new business portfolio.
  • Ensure all pricing activities are compliant with our corporate policies.
Requirements
  • Completion of FSA and/or FCIA designation.
  • 8-10 years of relevant work experience in actuarial roles within the life insurance industry.
  • Advanced actuarial and modeling skills, including practical experience in the pricing of insurance products.
  • Advanced working knowledge of spreadsheet, database, and word processing software.
  • Advanced knowledge of AXIS actuarial application.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong influencing skills and the ability to develop recommendations that balance competing objectives.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Working knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory capital requirements for the Canadian life insurance industry.
